In the year of our Lord, MARCH 15, 550 Last week my father passed from this world to heaven. While his death still haunts my dreams, I decided to go through his most precious belongings. I cannot bear to live with so many reminders of his life. As I was sorting through his storage chest, I came across an old book. The pages were yellowed with age and written in a language of which I knew not. I took the book to the local priest. He knew the words on the pages as ancient Latin, a language reserved for The Holy Bible. The priest translated the words and to my surprise it belonged to an ancestor of mine whom departed this life nearly 200 years ago. I decided to keep the diary and record the events of my life. This is my first entry.... When father was still alive, he brought his family over to the kingdom of Germany from Constantinople. father fought bravely in the army and was knighted immediately after the war was over. We chose to live under the command of King Ralph, father of Prince Peter. Father decided to name the town that we govern Mespelbrunn. There is a river to get our water. There is a forest to protect us. Good rich soil for farming. People with good spirits. What more can one need? It was like paradise. The colors on our coat of arms, blue and green, represent Truth, Hope, Joy, Loyalty, and Love. The Lion represents Dauntless, Courageous. The Deer represents peace. The Eagle represents Person of noble nature, strength, bravery, and alertness; leadership. The quote: “Servi Dei et Patri” means “Servant to God and Country. Prince Peter and I had always been friends, He may be the lord of this land, but he's still a kid at heart. His father, now King Ralph, spends most of his time visiting land to land. |

February 12, 676.There was a journal buried in the soil, Father said it was just an old book that probably has lost most of it's value. I read the first page and I was immediately drawn in: "...December 4, 476 "To whomever may find this journal, please know that my words are true and the events described hereafter are creating chaos throughout the Empire. I am Tiberius. Son of Marcus Augustus, husband to Aelia and a scribe to the mighty Roman Empire. I live in the city of Rome and I want to create a record of the events that none of us thought would happen, in our life time or our children's. The Empire is collapsing! We have abandoned all hope and the city is being emptied of all its precious items. They are being moved to the city of Constantinople in the eastern part of the Empire. Now I will describe the reasons for the peril that now plagues the good citizens of the Roman Empire…
Many of us would venture out, most of us will die. With the heart gone, the cities will eventually fall with it. We have teamed up with family-friends and travel until we reach somewhere safe. Live in the woods, never stay anywhere for too long. Our destination is Constantinople. Everybody must depend on their own Maybe there is still hope out there. Maybe there’ll be hope in Constantinople. Maybe we could start anew. These are possibilities. Before we set out, I decided to bury this journal In hopes that someone would find it. I am Tiberius, Son of Marcus Augustus, Husband to Aelia.
Greece
They gave us the idea of Democracy. There democracy was called Direct, Athenian, or Pure. Ours is called Representative. Without democracy, we'd be living a life that wouldn't be free, without democracy, the world would fall apart. Education like geometry, life science, philosophy ect. They're people like Aristotle. Without education, we would have never landed on the moon. Their inventions might be simple, like the Astrolabe, the Shower, the Alarm clock. The idea of inventions inspired us to invent more and more useful... and sometimes useless ideas.
RomeI can describe the roman republic. Rome was a triparte government which means it has 3 parts to it. Magistrates, Senate, and Tribunes. I can also explain what impact rome had on the worlds after it. Rome's republic is what we in USA use and call it representative government. I can also compare and contrast to differences between The Roman Republic and us. Apart from what they normally do, they are not that different from us. The Republic is made out of 3 branches (tripartite) named the magistrate, the senate, and the assemblies and tribunes. Our government is also a tripartite, executive, legislative, and judicial. To keep one group from becoming too powerful, they had every law made by the senate to be revised by the other groups. This is called "checks and balances".
Fertile Soil #1 - Without it, the people would be starving and poor. Then they will die out, when they’re all dead, the mountains would be protecting them but wouldn’t give them food.
Mountains #2 - The mountains promoted the growth of Rome because even though it won’t completely stop the enemy, it’ll slow them down just enough for the Romans to plan and ready up for the attack. This allowed them to become stronger and stronger. The enemy has to go through 2 mountain ranges. Seas #3 - Seas just sat there and did nothing like mashed broccoli. because rome is far from the coast and has no ports.
It was finally here, the day I've been waiting for all year, this day is when we travel on a journey across the nation to Yosemite National Park!! I had everything ready, my duffle bag and a camera. That was a month ago. I sat down in the back of the car, suddenly, a weird feeling fell upon me, the feeling of dizziness. i don't know what happened or how I got there but, when I woke up. i was lying on the side of a mountain. beneath me was a city of marble. i stared breathless before a memory hit me. I saw paintings of it but never would have thought to see it in person. This is Ancient Athens. I'm standing on the side of the great Acropolis. Atop it stands the Amphitheater, the Parthenon, the Propylaea, and the Erechtheum. Thank goodness i brought my camera.
The Athenians use trade to promote the growth and wealth of their city-state.
Everything is so different here than it is Cleveland. In Cleveland, there is Cultural Diffusion, which is a mix of cultures. Here, there are only of few cultures mixed together, the majority of which are Athenian and Greek. "The most difficult problems are naturally not involved in the search for forms for contemporary life. It is a question of working our way to forms behind which real human values lie." - Alvar Aalto. Everybody has that one question that's stuck in their mind, like "How did we, as humans, evolve more quickly than other life forms that share our planet?" They are called Essential Questions, hence the title. Essential Questions are open ended questions that don't have answers that you can read from in a book. The answer is developed in your head over time. Essential Questions spark our imagination and curiosity, they could take from a week to a whole lifetime to answer.
Hadoken is sort of like history. We each see history in a different perspective. If you took that picture with the camera at a low angle, you'd get the person flying higher than usual. Take Al Qaeda for example, we see them as a threat but they see themselves as strict followers of Islam. We see the tragedy of the Titanic to be just a terrible night but then we'd forget that we even thought about it. The victims would remember that night until hey are on their deathbeds. Perspective is how we see the world.
