I can describe the roman republic. Rome was a triparte government which means it has 3 parts to it. Magistrates, Senate, and Tribunes. I can also explain what impact rome had on the worlds after it. Rome's republic is what we in USA use and call it representative government.
I can also compare and contrast to differences between The Roman Republic and us. Apart from what they normally do, they are not that different from us. The Republic is made out of 3 branches (tripartite) named the magistrate, the senate, and the assemblies and tribunes. Our government is also a tripartite, executive, legislative, and judicial. To keep one group from becoming too powerful, they had every law made by the senate to be revised by the other groups. This is called "checks and balances".
Thats almost half way around the globe!!! So what did they do to impact us, I can explain. Greece, mostly Athens, came up with the idea of a democracy, which is saying the people have the power. Greek architecture could be seen in almost every political building. The Romans added on to this idea, creating a tripartite government and the idea of checks and balances. The great Republic came to an end when a man by the name of Lucius Cornelius Sulla Felix appointed himself dictator. following him is the famous Gaius Julius Caesar. | Rome:Greece: |
